Free Catalog MUST HAVES for Homeschool Projects

We use catalogs frequently for art projects! They make for awesome themed collages, decoupage art, card decorating, word games, math, science, critical thinking, and more!! There are a ton out there, we love gardening ones for our seeds/gardening units and home decor catalogs are great for the younger ones making flash cards to increase vocabulary! Not to mention they are aestheically pleasing AND FREE!!! You can find a list of our faves with links to request catalogs at the end of this post! I do recommend getting a really good pair of scissors, so they can appreciate and enjoy the cutting experience. The Candy Test - Reflecting on Self Control

I got this idea from the Teaching in Blue Jeans blog, and their "Marshmallow Test" to help students with learning self control. The concept is simple, and easily modfied we chose higher valued candies in place of marshmallows. What to do: Place one candy in a bowl and hand it to them. Tell them, they can chose to eat the delicious candy now, or they can wait _______ minutes and get more. I did a 6 minute time limit. During the time, I tried convincing them to eat their candy. I said things like, "Oh just go ahead and eat it, 6 minutes is too long." and "Gosh that candy looks so good, don't you want to just eat it already??" Nature Pizza - Learning about Leaf Changes

It's not delivery... it's Deciduous <3 Pizza is a favorite lunch time meal around here, and we love saving the cardboard insert for fun craft projects! We noticed that some of our leaves are changing color already and decided to use them to learn about how these color changes happen! We made a nature pizza! It‘s not delivery it’s deciduous 🤣 Pizza is a fave around here for lunch, we save the cardboard inserts from our frozen pizzas and use them for tons of crafts! They’re really handy, and easy to store! Today we are learning about leaf changes with the seasons. How deciduous trees lose their chlorophyll as the days get shorter.
