Position: Coding Teacher at Raising Brain

Location: Flint Hill, Virginia

Schedule: Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, 1pm-3pm (flexible, also considering adding an additional class offered to community as after school program)

Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Coding Teacher to join our microschool team. As a Coding Teacher, you will be responsible for creating an engaging and supportive learning environment where students can develop essential coding skills. This position offers the opportunity to inspire and empower students in a small-class setting, fostering their interest and proficiency in coding.

Responsibilities:

​

• Curriculum Development: Design or work within a comprehensive coding curriculum tailored to the needs and skill levels of students in the microschool.

• Deliver high-quality instruction in coding concepts and languages, utilizing a variety of teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles.

• Facilitate interactive coding projects and activities that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

• Provide personalized assistance and guidance to students as they work through coding challenges and projects.

• Assess student progress regularly through assignments, projects, and provide constructive feedback to support their growth.

Requirements:

​

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and MIT's Scratch.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.

• Patience, adaptability, and a passion for fostering student learning and success.

• Experience working with elementary or middle school-aged students is a plus.

Compensation: commensurate with experience.
